For the past several months the Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE) has supported the Emerald Bank Market that has been held in the undercover area of our complex.
The market organisers have worked tirelessly to provide a market that Shepparton can be proud of.
They have tried weekly, monthly, and night-time markets in an attempt to gauge when best it should be held. Unfortunately, the market has not been able to attract fresh food vendors who are the lifeblood of any regular market and one of the top reasons people visit on market days.
This combined with the challenges that every business has faced exiting COVID lockdowns has brought us to the decision to halt the markets at this stage.
Our outdoor area is increasingly in demand for visiting car clubs and MOVE considers these events should take precedence because of the economic value they add to the regional economy.
MOVE firmly believes Shepparton should have a regular market and we will support any initiative to continue to stage markets at another location, including sharing our intellectual property and expertise.
The MOVE Board would like to acknowledge the supreme efforts of Stacey Moutafis in establishing and continuing to stage successful markets under difficult circumstances.
